Your vote really matters

Alison Wedgwood is the Labour Party Parliamentary Candidate for The Wrekin constituency. This means you will be given the opportunity to vote for her as your next MP at the next general election, probably in 2009. At the moment there is a Tory MP in The Wrekin, he has a very small majority of just 942 votes. That means that only 472 local people need to switch BACK from Conservative to Labour for Alison to take back The Wrekin Parliamentary Seat!

The Wrekin is one of the 50 seats at the next general election which will affect the outcome of the whole general election. Your vote can change who becomes the Prime Minister and will affect how the UK is governed, where and how taxpayers money is spent to improve your lives.

The Tories are a real threat at the next general election, if you remember what happened during their last 18 years in power, 2 year waiting times for hip operations, no new schools or youth centres, 70,000 less nurses.... do you really want that all over again? Let's be honest there are still problems in public services, but the Tories voted against all increases in expenditure when they were given the opportunity to vote in 2002. What state would the health service be in now if they had been in power over the last 5 years? If there hadn't been the billions of pounds injected into the NHS what would its debts have been now?

Clearly, you have to make your mind up about whom to vote for, but remember that living in a democracy, with the freedom to vote and affect change is a great privilege and millions of other people in the world envy you! So please do vote at the next general election - and if you want someone that really cares about families and communities voting for Alison Wedgwood and Labour will make a difference
